Welcome
Welcome to Innsworth Preschool: The Leading Choice for Early Years Education in Gloucester. As a proudly family-owned and independent setting, Innsworth Preschool is dedicated to defining the standard for exceptional childcare in Gloucester.
Innsworth Preschool is more than just a childcare setting; for over 30 years, we have been a cornerstone of the community. Based in Innsworth, we are the leading choice for families across the wider Gloucester area and Churchdown. We are ideally situated just minutes from Imjin Barracks and serve as a convenient hub for parents commuting to or from Cheltenham. We provide a warm, secure, and professionally managed environment for children aged two to four. We are a family-owned, independent preschool, which means we are not part of a faceless chain. Instead, we are a close-knit team dedicated to creating a “home from home” atmosphere where every child is known by name, every family is valued, and every day is an opportunity for discovery. Whether you are a local family or moving to the area for a posting, you will find a welcoming, diverse, and supportive community waiting for you.
Proudly Independent: The Family Advantage
We take immense pride in our status as an independent, family-run provision. Because we are not answerable to external shareholders or large corporate franchises, we have the freedom to make decisions based entirely on what is best for the children in our care. This independence allows us to invest immediately in high-quality resources and maintain exceptional standards without compromise. It means we can adapt our environment to suit the specific needs of our current cohort, ensuring that your child receives a level of personal attention and agility that is rare in the early years sector. When you choose Innsworth Preschool, you are choosing a partner who is deeply invested in your child’s long-term success, not just their daily supervision.
The Educational Enhancement Service
We distinguish ourselves from standard provision through our comprehensive Enhancement Service. This premium package grants your child access to our Five Specialist Clubs, moving their education far beyond the statutory framework:
- Seed to Spoon (Horticulture): Children grow, harvest, and taste their own seasonal produce, taking home fresh vegetable bags for the family.
- Petal & Pod (Floristry): A unique opportunity to cultivate flowers and create hand-tied bouquets to bring home.
- Mini Food Tech (Science): Learning preservation science (pickling, drying) and creating labeled jars of produce.
- Animal Husbandry: Caring for our animals and collecting fresh eggs in branded boxes.
- The Nature Atelier: A dedicated outdoor art stream using natural materials and clay.
Crucially, this service also includes our “Zero-Admin” promise. We provide the Explorer’s Kit (professional waterproof dungarees and rigger gloves), handle all the muddy laundry, and supply premium nappies and sun cream. It is a complete package designed to give your child rich experiences and give you back your time.
Term Time: A School-Ready Routine
Our operational hours are thoughtfully structured to mirror the rhythm of the primary school day, operating from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm during term time. This is a deliberate educational choice. By following the academic calendar, we provide children with a consistent routine that builds stamina and familiarity with the school year structure. This approach helps families establish long-term routines and ensures that when the time comes to transition to Reception, children are confident, settled, and ready to learn. We find that this balanced schedule supports the emotional well-being of young children, preventing burnout and keeping their engagement high throughout the year.
Uncompromising Safety and Nutrition
The safety of your child is our absolute priority. Our setting is designed to exceed statutory standards, particularly regarding safeguarding and health. We operate a “Full Nourishment Plan” prepared in our professional kitchen, ensuring that children receive nutritious, safe, and balanced meals that fuel their learning. We are rigorous about allergen control and choke-prevention standards, providing total peace of mind for parents. Furthermore, we go beyond minimum legal requirements by ensuring that every single member of our team holds a full Level 3 Paediatric First Aid qualification. At Innsworth Preschool, your child is always in safe, capable, and highly trained hands. We are proud to hold a consistent ‘Good’ Ofsted rating, a testament to our high standards and dedication to continuous improvement.
An Inclusive, International Community
We are honored to be a multicultural setting that reflects the vibrant diversity of Gloucester and the international families stationed at Imjin Barracks. We view this diversity as a strength, teaching children to respect and celebrate different cultures, languages, and customs from an early age. We have developed specialist expertise in supporting children with English as an Additional Language (EAL) and Special Educational Needs (SEND). Our experienced team works tirelessly to remove barriers to learning, creating bespoke plans that ensure every child regardless of their starting point or background is championed, included, and supported to reach their full potential.

Entering preschool is a huge milestone. We focus on emotional security, welcoming children into a calm environment that bridges the gap between home and school. Curiosity takes over. Children access our specialist "Farm School" curriculum, using rigger gloves for "Seed to Spoon" projects. This stage focuses on rapid language development and complex problem-solving, turning solitary players into collaborative team members who love to investigate the natural world.

Our "School Readiness" programme prepares children for Primary School with excitement. Ambitious projects like "Petal & Pod" floristry and "Mini Food Tech" develop fine motor skills and the ability to follow multi-step instructions. We foster independence and academic resilience, ensuring they leave us as self-assured learners ready for Reception.
S.E.N.D.
We champion every child’s unique potential. With deep experience in supporting Special Educational Needs (SEND), we reject a "one size fits all" approach. Our team works in close partnership with you to adapt our teaching strategies, ensuring your child is celebrated, included, and supported to thrive alongside their peers.
