Visit Us
Schedule your visit today and come see why we are one of the most sought after childcare settings in Gloucestershire!
The best way to understand Innsworth Preschool is to visit us in person. A visit allows you to see the setting as it really is, meet the team, and understand how our calm routines, structured day, and high-quality learning environment come together to support children every day.
While a website can explain what we offer, visiting gives you a clear picture of how the day actually works. You will see how children move through a well-organised 10-hour day (8:00am to 6:00pm), how staff support them, and how our indoor and outdoor environments are used purposefully throughout the day.
Innsworth Preschool is a purpose-built, independent setting in the heart of Innsworth, designed to provide a safe, welcoming and well-structured environment. With 30 children per session, the atmosphere remains calm and manageable, allowing children to feel secure, settled and ready to learn.
Opening Hours, Session Structure and the Preschool Day
We are open from 8:00am to 6:00pm (10 hours), Monday to Friday, providing a structure that supports working families while maintaining a calm and well-managed environment for children.
The preschool day is built around two structured 5-hour sessions:
- Morning Session: 8:00am to 1:00pm
- Afternoon Session: 1:00pm to 6:00pm
Children can attend a single session or a full day, depending on what works best for their family, without being pushed into unnecessary hours or costs. For families who would like a 9:00am to 3:00pm arrangement, we offer the 8:00am to 1:00pm session plus a privately paid 2x Hour 3:00pm Top Up: £12.
Each session includes a set meal time, helping children stay well fed, settled and ready to take part fully in the day. We also offer a FREE breakfast from 9:00am, helping children start the day calmly and supporting families during busy mornings.
Meal times are a planned part of the learning experience, not just a break in the day. Children develop communication, independence, social skills, routines and healthy habits through shared meals in a calm and structured environment. Our approach focuses on providing meaningful, well-structured time, rather than long, unstructured days. This helps children stay engaged, build confidence, and feel secure within a routine that supports their development.
A Safe, Calm and Well-Organised Environment
Children thrive when they feel safe, settled and supported, and this underpins everything we do at Innsworth Preschool. Our setting is carefully organised to create a calm, structured environment where children know what to expect and feel confident to explore, learn and grow.
Safety is central to our daily practice. We operate clear routines, consistent staffing, and well-established procedures to ensure children are supervised at all times. Our team is highly experienced, trained in safeguarding, and familiar with the individual needs of the children in their care. This allows us to provide attentive, responsive support while maintaining a calm and secure atmosphere throughout the day.
With 30 children per session, the environment remains more manageable and less overwhelming for young children. This allows staff to give appropriate attention and support, while helping children feel known, secure and confident within the setting.
The physical environment is designed with young children in mind. Indoor and outdoor spaces are thoughtfully laid out to encourage independence, movement, creativity and focus, while also allowing staff to supervise effectively. Activities are planned to be age-appropriate, purposeful and engaging, helping children build confidence without becoming overwhelmed.
We also place strong emphasis on routines and boundaries. Children benefit from knowing what comes next, and this structure supports emotional regulation, behaviour, and positive relationships. Our consistent approach helps children feel safe, reduces anxiety, and creates a settled learning environment where they can thrive.
Safeguarding is always our priority. Entry to the setting is controlled, visits are by appointment only, and all visitors follow our safeguarding procedures. This ensures that children remain protected and that the setting stays calm and secure throughout the day.
A Preschool That Works for Families Across Gloucester and Cheltenham
Innsworth Preschool supports families from across Gloucester, Innsworth, Churchdown, Longlevens and surrounding areas, as well as those travelling between Gloucester and Cheltenham for work.
Our location in the heart of Innsworth makes daily routines easier for families who need childcare that fits realistically around work, school runs and commuting.
We work with families with a wide range of working patterns, including those based locally, commuting between towns, or working at nearby employers such as Imjin Barracks, Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, the University of Gloucestershire and local business parks. Many families choose us because we offer a clear, structured day, consistent routines, and a setting that is reliable and easy to build into daily life, rather than one that adds complexity.
As a term-time preschool, we are particularly well suited to families who value:
- A routine that mirrors the school day
- Clear start and finish times
- A predictable weekly structure
- Strong preparation for school from an early age
We understand that childcare needs to be both practical and supportive. Our approach is designed to reduce pressure on families while providing a calm, well-organised environment where children feel secure and confident.
Arranging Your Preschool Visit
We welcome families to visit and see how the setting works in practice. A visit gives you a clear view of the environment, routines and daily flow, so you can decide if it is the right fit for your child.
All visits are by appointment only. This helps us keep the setting calm, safe and well organised, and ensures a member of the team is available to speak with you properly during your visit.
During your visit, you will be able to:
- See the setting in operation
- Observe how children move through the day
- View both indoor and outdoor learning environments
- Understand how the 8:00am to 6:00pm day and sessions work in practice
- Ask questions about routines, meals, sessions and availability
Visits are kept focused so that staff can continue supervising children safely. If you have more detailed questions about fees, funding or specific arrangements, these can be discussed separately after your visit.
Our aim is to give you a clear and honest picture of how the preschool runs, so you can make an informed decision with confidence.
Stay and Play: The Next Step After Your Visit
After your visit, we offer Stay and Play sessions to help children become familiar with the setting before starting.
These sessions allow children to explore the environment, take part in activities and begin building confidence, while a parent or carer remains with them.
Stay and Play sessions are:
- Structured to reflect the normal preschool day
- Designed to support confidence and familiarity
- Limited in numbers to keep the environment calm
- Booked in advance
They are not open play sessions, but a planned step to help children feel settled and ready to attend independently.
Enrolment, Availability and Next Steps
Places at Innsworth Preschool are limited to 30 children per session, helping us maintain a calm, well-managed environment and provide closer support for each child.
Availability depends on age, session choice and current numbers. Because of this, places are offered based on what will work best for the child and the overall balance of the setting.
Once you have visited and decided to move forward, we will talk you through:
- Available sessions
- How the day structure fits your needs
- Next steps to secure a place
All places are confirmed in writing, with full details of fees, funding and policies provided before a start date is agreed.
We recommend getting in touch early, as demand for places is consistently high.
